Get Involved: Lynnwood School Council

At Lynnwood School, we’re proud to have a committed group of parent volunteers who help organize and support many of the events and activities that enrich student life. We’re always looking for new parents to join us!

If you're interested in volunteering or learning more about how you can contribute, please contact our School Council Chair at ncchair@gmail.com.

What Is a School Council?

School Councils are made up of parents, the principal, teachers, students, and community members who work together to support and enhance student learning. They provide an important way for the school community to offer input and advice to the school and school board.

As a parent, you have a vital role in your child’s education — and School Council gives you a meaningful opportunity to be involved in decisions that affect our students and school culture.

Established School Councils:

  • Focus on what’s best for all students
  • Reflect the voices and interests of the whole school community
  • Help shape the school’s culture and direction
  • Strengthen the connection between home and school

The Government of Alberta requires every school operated by a school board to have a School Council — recognizing the value of parent and community engagement.

The Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA) supports councils across the province with resources, training, and workshops to foster strong parent participation.

When We Meet

Lynnwood School Council meets once a month (Third Wednesday of every month). Meeting dates, agendas, and minutes are posted on SchoolZone under the Resources tab.

Whether you attend one meeting or many, we welcome your voice and your involvement. Together, we can make a difference!
